The Dark Match Giveaway Essay Contest

Well, we didn’t quite hit the goal set forth for the last giveaway, but we did get a few new followers on both social media formats.  But seeing as how I’m still sitting on the gift card, let’s see what else we can do.

For my first official giveaway, I’m doing an essay contest.  Who is your favorite wrestler of all time and why?  A simple enough way to get it kicked off.  I could probably write for days about Hulk Hogan.  If we take away the extracurriculars that have tarnished the legend, he revolutionized an industry.  He was a character, an athlete, a superstar.

For this contest, you’ll answer that question in essay format.  I won’t judge based on essay formatting, spelling, etc., I just want you to provide me with a response.  A minimum of 300 words/maximum 700 words to include any reason why you feel the way you do.  Feel free to use your 300+ words to tell me memorable matches, promos, etc., basically anything to build a case for your favorite wrestler.

I will select two winners from the submissions and each winner will receive a Bret Hart Funko Pop Bobblehead.  These things are on preorder now, and you’ll have it the day it releases.  Deadline for submission is Friday, August 12th at Noon.  Submissions should be sent to darkmatchmatt@gmail.com.

Disclaimer: All submissions may potentially be posted on The Dark Match.  By submitting to the contest, you grant permission for your essay to be placed on the site for readers to view.  Winning submissions will be selected by random panel of objective judges we will determine the weekend of August 12-14 to read the submissions and select the best two.  There is no cash value to the prize, and prize is negotiable for a substitute Funko Pop of the winner’s choice (non-CM Punk/AJ Lee) at a maximum prize value of $13 per winner.
