WWE Money in the Bank: Card and Predictions – Updated

MITB

WWE has already dubbed this “The Greatest Money In The Bank” of all time.  Let’s see if it lives up to the hype.

Update 06/18/2016
We set this post to publish this morning, assuming that all matches had been announced.  It turns out that the previously announced Kickoff Preshow matches, Crews Vs. Sheamus and Ziggler Vs. Baron Corbin, are now on the main card and we have two new matches in their place.  That puts the main card at 8 matches.  I’m assuming the two matches that moved up the card will be used as buffer matches between the MITB ladder match and Cena/Styles Main Event.  Matt is in Australia so I’m updating this post with just my predictions.

Preshow:

The Lucha Dragons Vs. The Dudley Boyz

LuchaDragonsVsDudleyBoyz

Jeremy: I’m not sure?  I’m going with my gut that the Dudley’s win with some kind of heel maneuver. Does it matter for either team, not really.

The Golden Truth Vs. FaBreeze

Jeremy: I’m not going to lie.  I’m super excited to sing along tomorrow at the T-Mobile Arena with R-Truth.  I think The Golden Truth finally walk away with a definitive win.  Is this the blow-off of the feud?  Probably not.  I don’t see this ending anytime soon.  Who do they feud with next otherwise?  It’s made both Fandango and Tyler Breeze relevant again.  If nothing else, we owe The Golden Truth that.

Main Card:

Apollo Crews Vs. Sheamus

CrewsVsSheamus

Matt:  This one is hard to pick. On one hand, Sheamus is a time tested heel character when the company desperately needs one. He’s also coming off Ninja Turtles doing pretty well at the Box office, so I think Sheamus gets this one. I still think Apollo is too green for them to make Sheamus eat a loss to him right now.

Jeremy:  The best thing for Apollo is Breaking Ground Reloaded.  I just watched that last night and I have to admit that I have a little bit of sympathy for him.  That being said, I’m still pulling for Sheamus.

Dolph Ziggler Vs. Baron Corbin

CorbinVsZiggler

Matt: This is another opportunity to highlight two quality wrestlers wasted with a 4 minute pre show match. Corbin will get himself disqualified about 2 minutes in with a chair as vindication for the dick kick, then spend another two wailing on Ziggler. Then next month we will see this match yet again in the pre show.  Ziggy wins via Corbin DQ.

Jeremy:  Ugh.  I don’t know.  Ziggy wins?  They clearly don’t know what to do with either right now.  Hopefully the distinct rosters give them more direction.  I think this will be a buffer match between the ladder match and Cena Vs. Styles.

Charlotte and Dana Brooke Vs. Natalya and Becky Lynch

BrookeandCharlotteVsNatalyaandLynch

Matt: We sort of discussed it the other day privately, but I think the best solution here since the title is not on the line would be to have Becky get to pin or submit Charlotte clean for the win. There’s not a whole lot of direction right now in the women’s division so that would at least create some sort of segue into a Becky V Charlotte match for the next PPV, which I’ve wanted since Mania.

Jeremy: I think this is how they give Nattie a clean win and move on from the feud.  Nattie pins Charlotte clean.  Natalya

U.S. Championship Match:
Titus O’Neal Vs. Rusev (Champion)

RusevVsONeal

Matt: Not even going to justify this with an extensive reason. Rusev crush because who gives half a shit about Titus O’Neal other than poor kids in Tampa.

Jeremy: Rusev Crush!  Rusev submits Titus with the Accolade with his crying children in the audience on Father’s Day?  Why?  Revenge from Vincent Kennedy McMahon.  It’s not enough to be suspended for 3 months and miss the biggest event/payday of the year.

Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship:
The New Day (Champions) vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. The Vaudevillains

TagTeamChampionship

Matt:Two potential outcomes here, and both are based on merchandise sales. These belts either stay with New Day (which, lame, because they are like the unspoken Roman Reigns of the Tag Division at this point) or it goes with Enzo and Cass. The New Day need something to work for again, and if we get the belts off them while the fire is in the E&C corner (and yes, I get the parallel) then it builds up to a rematch at Night of Champions just between those two. I’m down. Enzo and Cass with the win. (Plus I hear Vince is huge on Cass, so that makes me think they’ll get the belts)

Jeremy:  I think New Day is going to lose it.  They need something to energize them and losing the belts is what they need.  I’m thinking it’s Enzo and Cass.  I could definitely be wrong.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match contract

Moneyinthebank-match

Matt: The easy answer here is that they give it to Ambrose for the “Shield” drama. The Smark answer is that it will be Cesaro because it is about damn time. I’m going a different route. I think Jericho walks away with the briefcase. Don’t know why I’m taking him, as there are probably 4 guys in the match with better odds, but I’m going with the trusty veteran here.

Jeremy:  Ambrose.  Maybe I’m a sucker but I think Ambrose wins it and cashes in on the same night.

John Cena vs. AJ Styles

AJStylesVsJohnCena

Matt: Can I abstain? Is that something we’re allowed to do? The Face That Runs The Place is on fire coming back from injury/American Grit. He’s cutting edgy promos and he’s not playing games anymore. I expect him to shoot right back in to Big Match John mode and come away with a win here, but this one is going to be a massive battle, and I think it is foreshadowing of a potential future Wrestlemania title match, and that is completely ok. What we don’t need is the rest of The Club, unless they use this match to bring Balor in to help Styles get the win, which can lead to greater things down the road including a Team Cena Vs The Club at SS match.

Jeremy:  I think this is a start of a series.  I think it’s going to follow the Kevin Owens trajectory and have AJ win this first one.  It will be a great match, regardless.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match:
Seth Rollins Vs. Roman Reigns (Champion)

ReignsVsRollins

Matt: They won’t pull the belt off Reigns, as much as we all want it to happen and as much as we all want it to be back on Rollins. If Rollins does win, I’d almost immediately expect a MITB cash in to end the show with a third champion in one night.

Jeremy:  Roman wins.  I think Ambrose cashes it in and inadvertently ruins Rollins shot at getting back the championship.  Potentially sets up a true Triple Threat at Summerslam.

Other Predictions:

Matt: My usual prediction stands. Bray Wyatt will return. I would almost expect it to come in the Cena Vs Styles match, because that would make the most sense to pick up where he left off. It does suck that he will return without Harper, but if they really want to hit the ground running with Wyatt, what better way than showing up mid Styles match and kicking off a feud with The Club? I’d revel in that 6 man tag match at the next PPV.

Jeremy:  I don’t think we get any surprise returns tonight.  I do think a lot of people show up at the Raw the day after in Arizona.
